Angul: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended the Asst Engineer RWS & S division at Talcher in Angul district while demanding and accepting a bribe.
The Tax Collector has been identified as Santosh Kumar Sahoo.
Reportedly, the anti-corruption team laid a trap against Santosh while demanding and accepting cash of Rs 50,000/- from the complainant (a Contractor) in order to clear his bills.
Simultaneous searches were launched at the Govt quarter located at Talcher, Residential building at plot no-K 407, Kalinga Vihar, Bhubaneswar, and paternal house at Bhapur in Nayagarh.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance filed a case under section 7 of P.C Act,1988 as amended by the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.
