Odisha: Union Minister Amit Shah in Bhubaneswar for 2-Day Visit

Amit Shah was welcomed by BJP leaders, including the party's National Vice President Baijayant Panda and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.

Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday night for a two-day visit to Odisha. Welcomed by prominent BJP leaders, including the party’s National Vice President Baijayant Panda and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Shah was taken to a city hotel, where he will stay during his visit.

BJP’s Bhubaneswar District President, Babu Singh, expressed the party members’ excitement, calling Shah the “Chanakya of national politics.” He believes Shah’s visit will uplift the morale of BJP cadres in the state.

The Home Minister has a packed schedule for Saturday. He is slated to attend three meetings at the Convention Centre of the State Secretariat. These meetings will focus on NHAI projects’ inauguration, review discussions on left-wing extremism, and disaster management with the Odisha government.

Later in the day, Shah will visit the State BJP office in Bhubaneswar, where he will meet the newly appointed state office bearers. He will engage in discussions regarding the completion of tasks assigned to them earlier.

Additionally, Shah will address party leaders on effective ways to communicate the Modi government’s achievements during its nine years of governance at the Centre.

Ahead of Shah’s visit, the political atmosphere in Odisha has intensified. The BJP has vowed to mount an aggressive fight in the 2024 elections. Odisha BJP Chief, Manmohan Samal, affirmed that party members are excited about Shah’s visit and are gearing up for a spirited election campaign.

However, the Congress party sees Shah’s visit through a different lens. Tara Bahinipati of the Congress insinuated that Shah’s visit to Odisha may be to express gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for BJD’s support for the Centre on the Delhi Services Bill.
