Odisha Gets Rs 5993 Crore Allocation In Railway Budget

Bhubaneswar: Several new railway projects have been sanctioned for Odisha in the Union Budget 2019-20. Railway officials said that the total grant to Odisha is Rs 5993 crore including allocations for various projects, passenger amenities, track renewal and repairs, Road Over Bridges, Road Under Bridges, electrification and staff amenities.

Railway sources said that the budgetary allocation is higher than last year when Odisha had got Rs 5252 crores.

Railway officials said that passenger amenities have got an allocation of 180 Crores, which is very high while automatic coach washing plants have been sanctioned for Bhubaneswar Coaching Depot.

“Five new surveys have been granted for Odisha. Those are Raja Athagarh to Kaipadar Road avoiding Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, 10 flyovers– Titlagarh, Singapur Road, Haridaspur, Koraput, Sambalpur, Machhapur, Jajpur Road, Sambalpur City, Sarla and Gopalpur Port, Chord Line from Talcher to Angul through colliery to avoid engine reversal at Talcher (14 kms), bypass from Titlagarh-Rahenbata to Sikir and flyover at Cuttack for goods train to avoid congestion at Cuttack,” said a railway official.
