Malkangiri: A jawan of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) has been martyred and one Maoist killed during an exchange of fire between security forces and red ultras at Swabhiman area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Wednesday morning.
Exchange of fire was underway near Bonda ghat in the district, when the news was filed.
Official sources said, one SOG personnel has also sustained bullet injuries. He was rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital here.
A joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and DVF was undertaking the operation against the Naxals near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
The security personnel have recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the spot.
