Odisha: Assistant Engineer of BDO’s office apprehended by Vigilance
Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials of Odisha vigilance today conducted a raid and apprehended an Assistant Engineer of office of Salipur Block Development Officer in Cuttack district today.
Cuttack: Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials of Odisha vigilance today conducted a raid and apprehended an Assistant Engineer of office of Salipur Block Development Officer in Cuttack district today.
The accused JE has been identified as Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak. He was nabbed by the anti-corruption team while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a contractor.
Sources said that Nayak was taking the cash to release the amount related to supply of cement, metal, sand and labour for execution of 3 CC (cement and concrete) roads.
The Vigilance sleuths recovered the entire money form the possession of the Assistant Engineer. Later, the officials conducted simultaneous raids at different places belong to him.
An investigation also has been launched against Nayak after registering a case under Section 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2028 has been registered against him.
