Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik has been the Chief Minister of Odisha for the last 24 years. He is not just in the power since 2000 but also has been conferred with several awards for his unique way of doing things.
From effectively managing the disasters to successfully conducting international sports events be it hockey or footballs, Naveen Patnaik has placed Odisha on global map. He has been even lauded by several international organizations.
Patnaik is not only famous for his governance model of 5Ts, which stands for Teamwork, Transparency, Technology, Time, and Transformation, but also he has been carefully and successfully handling the oppositions, which is why even the leaders of oppositions are seen him praising time and again.
The CM also has been ranked as No 1 CM of country in different categories. Recently, The India Today in its Mood of Nation poll has recently ranked him No 1 as the most popular CM in home state. In view of this, 5T Chairman VK Pandian asked Patnaik the secret of his success as the most popular Chief Minister for the last 24 years.
Answering to Pandian, Patnaik said, “I think it is because of the blessings Lord Jagannath and Ashirbad of the people of Odisha.”
Patnaik was born on 16 October 1946 in Cuttack to Biju Patnaik, former Chief Minister of Odisha, and his wife, Gyan Devi. He has been representing the Hinjili Assembly constituency since 2000. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2023, one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state, holding the post for over two decades, and only the second Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state. He is the first president of the Biju Janata Dal since 1997.
