More than 30 migrant labourers from Boudh tortured in Karnataka

Boudh: More than 30 migrant labourers from Boudh of Odisha were allegedly tortured. The labourers are natives of the Guhirapali and Demuhani villages in Lambasari panchayat under Kantamal Block of the district.

As per reports, the said migrant labourers had went to work in Dapakka area in Sukhed district of Maharashtra as daily wage labouers. Later, they were taken to Karnataka by the agent named Narasingha Repanward.

Reportedly, there they were working in the sugarcane fields. However, one of the workers has alleged that the owner tortured them. He further complained that the owner even did not allow them to return home.

However, five of them managed to return secretly while the others are still there, he said. A complaint has been lodged with the District Labour Officer of Boudh in this regard.
