Metro rail project Bhubaneswar-Cuttack: DMRC starts survey

The work of the Metro rail project Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has started. DMRC in collaboration with BMRP has started a survey of the land.

Bhubaneswar: The work of the Metro rail project Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has started. DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) in collaboration with BMRP (Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project) has started a survey of the land.

According to reports, the land survey has started for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metro Rail Project. The survey is being conducted with the help of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. In the first phase of the inspection has been started between Trishulia and Nandankanan. DMRC has taken over the preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project.

The state government plans to complete the DPR preparation of this project and to start the project work at the earliest possible. While the preparation work of DPR has started a few days ago, now the geo-technical investigation work is underway.

According to the plan, soil testing will be done every 1 km from Thrishulia to Bhubaneshwar airport. In some places the excavations shall be done to a depth of as much as 40 feet below the ground. It is being checked at what level the stone bed lies. Soil bearing capacity can be determined from soil sample tests.

The goal is to complete soil testing and DPR preparation by August. After that, the Chief Minister will soon lay the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had been called in as a consultant for the Metro railway project work in Odisha. The DMRC has been requested to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the metro railway project in Odisha.

The Housing and Urban Development Minister, Usha Devi had earlier informed about the above progress in the Odisha metro railway work.The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, had given his official approval to the project on Utkal Diwas that is April 1, 2023.

Earlier on April 25, a city coordination committee meeting was conducted in the BDA head office. The recently formed City Coordination Committee (CCC) focuses on instilling best practices and integration between various departments.

The city agencies are working towards making the state capital far more liveable. The meeting focussed on various preparatory and planning works related to the proposed metro rail project in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
