Maoists attack road construction camp, torch 10 vehicles in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Red fear loomed large in Malkangiri again last night after a group of Maoists attacked a road construction camp and set ablaze at least 10 vehicles at Andrahal village under Bondaghati area.

At least 60-70 heavily armed Maoists barged into the camp located near Kharaput-Andrahal road construction site late in the night. After initial verbal abuse to the workers present at the camp the red rebels ransacked the camp and set afire 10 vehicles kept their, reducing those into ashes.

The vehicles torched at the camp by Maoists include 2 JCBs, 5 Tractors, 1 Roller, 1 Pick-Up van, and 1 mixer machine.

Later on the members of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group left the camp issuing warning to the construction company to immediately stop the road construction work.

Police had not reached the spot till this report was being filed.
