Man Trapped In Sand Rescued After Eight Days In Odisha

Angul: A labourer from Jharkhand has been rescued after being trapped under the hip of sand for eight days. The incident has taken place in Chendiapada area of Angul district.

The victim identified as Barjahan Seikh was roped in for construction of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission by a private construction firm along with six others from Jharkhand.

However, Seikh was trapped in a nullah while attending nature’s call since July 19.  His associates searched him but failed to trace. Later they lodged a missing complaint with the Chendiapada police station on July 22. Police too failed to trace the missing labourer.

Few locals passing through the nullah spotted the trapped man on Friday and subsequently informed the Fire control room. Fire personnel rescued Seikh and rushed him to the nearest hospital.
