In a heinous incident, a man reportedly killed his best friend for asking him to return the money he had taken in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
Baripada: In a heinous incident, a man reportedly killed his best friend for asking him to return the money he had taken in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
One Topoi Mahanto, a widow, and Bisheshwar Behera of Rumapahadi village under the Jamda police station were good friends and often used to borrow and return money from each other.
However, Bisheshwar had reportedly taken some money from Topoi, which he did not return after asking him repeatedly.
Instead of returning the money, he hatched a plan to kill Topoi. As planned, he stoned her to death with the help of his father Rakesh and two other youths- Rajesh Das and Laltu Das of Kona village. They also attempted to destroy the evidence.
In course of investigation, cops arrested Bisheshwar, the prime accused, and based on his inputs arrested other accused for killing Topoi Mahanto while she was going to a weekly market on November 10. Her decomposed body was recovered from the Budharana forest.
Further probe is underway.
