Man gets 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment in rape case in Cuttack
A Fast Track Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Court in Cuttack today found a man guilty in a rape case and sentenced him to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
Cuttack: A Fast Track Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Court in Cuttack today found a man guilty in a rape case and sentenced him to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
The court reportedly convicted Gopal Singh, the accused, based on the evidence and statements of the witnesses. Apart from awarding him the rigorous imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him. He will have to remain six months more in case he fails to pay the fine.
The court also asked the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAS) to pay a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the rape survivor.
A rape was filed against Gopal at Madhupatna in December 2019. Based on which, cops arrested the accused and forwarded him to the court.
