Puri: A man was chased and hacked to death in broad daylight on the main road at Gola Sahi of Harekrushnapur on the outskirts of the Pilgrim Town on Wednesday.
One Arjuna Barala was waylaid by four unidentified miscreants while he was returning home after dropping his daughter at her school. Then they kept on chasing him and hacked him with sharp weapons causing his death on the spot.
Chandanpur police arrived on the spot after getting information and sent the body to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
Police suspected old rivalry to be the motive behind the murder. A manhunt has been launched by the cops to nab the absconding accused.
