Loot from Union Bank in Balasore; Prime accused arrested

The Union Bank in Chandaneswar area under Talasari police station of Odisha’s Balasore district was looted at gunpoint.

Balasore: The Union Bank in Chandaneswar area under Talasari police station of Odisha’s Balasore district was looted at gunpoint. Following the robbery, the Balasore police have arrested one of the four prime accused.

Speaking to the media, Balasore SP Sagarika Nath informed that the police team has arrested one of the four main accused identified as Taib Ali Mulla from Basir Hat police limit area of West Bengal. The team have also seized over 1,850 grams of gold worth Rs 49 lakhs. Reportedly, 14 people were involved in this interstate robbery.

According to reports, on April 26, nearly 600 packets of gold jewelry worth Rs 45, 52,910 were looted from the bank. The police arrested 6 robbers, 3 of them were from Balasore and 3 were known to be from West Bengal.

Earlier, this anti-state robbery gang was involved in two bank robberies in Basta police station and Bhogarai police station areas. This gang is found to be involved in multiple robberies in West Bengal and Odisha through various smaller gangs. The blueprint of all the robberies was carried out in the same manner by this gang.

Further investigation is underway.
