Keonjhar Collector directs DEO to probe 3 students’ death in snakebite

According to reports, district Collector has directed DEO Purna Chandra Sethi to conduct the probe and submit a report in this regard.

Keonjhar: Taking a serious note of the death of the three students due to snakebite at a coaching centre of Keonjhar’s Nischitpur last night, Keonjhar district collector has reportedly directed the District Education Officer (DEO) to conduct an investigation into the matter.

According to reports, district Collector Ashish Thakare has directed DEO Purna Chandra Sethi to conduct the probe and submit a report in this regard.

Four students of the private residential coaching centre were rushed to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after they were bitten by a poisonous snake while sleeping last night. However, three students including two girls aged between 10 and 11 years breathed their last while undergoing treatment.

Another student was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for better treatment. However, the student’s condition stated to be critical.

Around 60 students were staying in the coaching centre but most of them left it following the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, Chamua Tehsildar, Block Education Office (BEO), and Additional BEO have reached the coaching centre to initiate an investigation in the matter.
