Bhubaneswar: A youth has lost his life while another has sustained critical injuries after an iron rod-laden trailer truck fell off a bridge over the Brahmani river near Kamagara in Dhenkanal district early on Saturday morning.
Reportedly, the iron-laden trailer truck lost control over its wheels and it fell off the bridge at 5 am today.
The locals spotted the unfortunate accident and informed the local authorities.
On getting the information, the Sadar police along with local firefighters arrived at the spot. They recovered the body and rushed another youth to Dhenkanal hospital in a critical condition who has been later shifted to SCB, Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated.
The cops have initiated a probe into the matter. The identities of the deceased as well as the critical patient have not yet been ascertained.
In another accident that took place near Nakajhari village under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district, two bikes dashed against each other. As a result, a youth has died and another woman, Mina Dehuri, sustained critical injuries.
The deceased youth in the bike accident has been identified as Tuna Munda of Sunaripadi village. Mina was admitted to Ghatagaon health centre for immediate medical treatment later shifted to Keonjhar District Headquarter Hospital (DHH).
On getting the information, Keonjhar police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. An investigation has also been initiated.
