A High Power Committee meeting for the protection and conservation of Olive Ridley turtles was held. The CS chaired the meeting, PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden along with senior officials were present.

The decisions taken in the High Power Committee meeting are as follows: 

Home Department will deploy 7 sections of APR force for joint sea patrolling with Forest Department staff during the olive ridley turtles in Odisha nesting season as per requisition of DFOs concerned (4 nos. of APR units for Mangrove Forest Division, Rajnagar and each for Bhadrak, Puri and Berhampur Divisions)

Marine Police stationed at Talchua and Dhamara will provide seagoing vessels during the joint sea patrolling with Forest Department

Port authorities of Dhamara and Gopalpur will provide one hired sea worthy trawler each to the Divisional Forest Officers, Rajnagar and Berhampur for sea patrolling respectively

Paradip Port Authority will also provide one such trawler to Mangrove Forest Division (Wildlife), Rajnagar

F&ARD Department informed about recent enhancement of compensation amount. The Director of Fisheries will do wide publicly of the said enhanced compensation. Further, the Department will take steps for early amendment of OMFR Act for enhancement of fine as well

Temporary berthing facilities for the Indian Coast Guard, Forest Department, and Fisheries Department for the seized vessels are to be provided by the three Port Authorities, free of charge

Commissioner, Commerce and Transport Department will take steps for providing berthing facilities for the seized vessels

The DRDO authorities will ensure that there is no missile testing during the mass nesting period, which could affect the breeding and mass nesting of olive ridley turtles in Odisha.
