This was decided at an Inter Ministerial Committee meeting at the secretariat conference hall today. The progress of the Investment Intents received during the ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’ held earlier this year was reviewed during the meeting.

Minister for Industries Niranjan Pujari, who chaired the meeting, called upon officials to ‘focus on growth of apparel industry and utilization of the productive youth power in our State.’

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi advised the Departments of Industry and Handloom & Textiles to take up a special drive with potential apparel investors highlighting the opportunities and support available in Odisha.

Principal Secretary Industry Sanjeeb Chopra presented an update on the investment intents received so far through various investor meets organized by the state government.

It was revealed during the meeting that around 124 investment intents were expressed at the Investors Meet in Mumbai, Odisha Investors’ Meet in Bengaluru and Make in Odisha Conclave at Bhubaneswar organized by Govt of Odisha during the months of February, August and Nov-Dec, 2016 respectively.

Because of constant follow up through IPICOL and State Level Facilitation Center (SLFC), so far around 60% of these intents have been converted to specific investment proposals. Out of these, 50 projects have already been accorded approval at the SLSWCA committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary at different points of time.

These 50 projects envisage a cumulative investment of around Rs.123, 760 crores with an employment potential of around 95,235.
