Gangadhar Meher lift irrigation project in Odisha’s Bargarh inaugurated by CM Naveen Patnaik

Bargarh: The Gangadhar Meher lift irrigation project in Odisha’s Bargarh was inaugurated by the CM Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday. The irrigation project is an ambitious project of the State government that aims to provide assured irrigation to around 25,600 hectares of chronically drought-hit areas.

Bijepur, Sohela and Barpali blocks of Bargarh district and Dunguripalli block of Subarnapur district farmers would get irrigation facilities from the Gangadhar Meher lift irrigation project, sources said.

The irrigation project will be completed at the earliest and the farmers can draw water from it, the CM had promised while on a visit to Bargarh during the distribution of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) Health Cards.

The Chief Minister had announced the project in October 2017 before the Bijepur by-election.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also inaugurated a 100-bedded cancer care center in Bargarh DHH (district Headquarter Hospital) today. The CM will also inaugurated the state’s second 100-bed cancer care center in Bargarh Khedopali District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) today. The cancer hospital is set to provide free treatment facilities will be available to cancer patients in their hometown.

As per reports, the state government has built this 100-bed cancer hospital by spending Rs 106 crore. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited Odisha’s Bargarh district to inaugurate and lay foundation stone on multiple projects worth RS 1667 crores 42 lakhs on Tuesday.
