Bhubaneswar: The direct flight services between Rourkela and Kolkata will begin soon. Odisha government has reportedly provided the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to launch the flight services between the two destinations.
With the launching of the direct flight services, the passengers can reach Kolkata from Rourkela within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Alliance Air will operate the flight services thrice a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The initial flight ticket fare between Rourkela and Kolkata will be Rs 1999. The new fight service is expected to massively boost the industry and tourism sector of Sundergarh district.
It is to be noted here that the flight services between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar has already started ahead of the men’s World Cup hockey this year.
The Rourkela-Kolkata flight service via Bhubaneswar started in November. However, now people an directly fly between Rourkela and Kolkata.
With the announcement of the direct Rourkela-Kolkata flight, the timing of Bhubaneswar-Rourkela flights is expected to change.
