Elephant tramples two persons to death in Deogarh district of Odisha

An elephant allegedly trampled two persons to death in Tipirisingha village in the Laimura forest section of Deogarh district of Odisha.

Deogarh: An elephant allegedly trampled two persons to death in Tipirisingha village in the Laimura forest section of Deogarh district of Odisha late Friday night. According to reports, the deceased were a woman and her niece.

Sources said that both of them were sitting around a campfire in front of their house when the elephant attacked them. Both the women lost their lives on the spot.

The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Surubali Kishan of age and 36-year-old Khaeri Kishan.

The elephant menace remains a major issue in several districts of the state including Deogarh. The elephants often strayed to the villages or residential areas in search of food due to the rapidly shrinking forest areas.

We often hear about incidents of elephants attacking villages and wreaking havoc in paddy fields and destroying properties.
