Dev Diwali Celebration in Puri Jagannath temple to end today

Puri: The Dev Diwali meaning the Diwali of the Gods is scheduled to end in the world-famous Puri Jagannath temple of Odisha today.

The rituals had been started on the day of ‘Chaturdasi’ day in the holy month of ‘Margasira’, according to the Odia Hindu calendar. The deva Diwali rituals will continue for three days that is  Chaturdasi, Amabasya and Pratipada.

Lord Jagannath and his siblings according to the rituals, offer prayers to their ancestors or the ‘Pitrupaksha’. Due to the offering of the prayers during the three-day celebration of dev Diwali in Puri, the Holy Trinity had adorned white clothes.

It is worth mentioning here that, the devotees will also be able to see Lord Jagannath and his siblings in this form.

According to reports, after the offering of ‘Shradh’ (prayers to their ancestors) the Maha Diya (earthen lamp) will be raised atop the Puri Jagannath temple.
