Sundargarh: Under the influence of Cyclone Michaung all schools closed in Sundargarh district of Odisha on Thursday, said reliable reports.

According to reports, several areas across Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall under the influence of cyclone ‘Michaung.’ Schols in Gajapati were closed till Wednesday. Areas under Southern and Coastal Odisha have experienced rainfall. It has been raining in some parts of South Odisha district since two days.

Due to incessant rain, the district administration had decided to keep schools closed in Gajapati till Wednesday. Today all schools have been closed in Sundargarh district.

The regional meteorological department has issued an orange warning to five districts of Odisha in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall.  These districts include Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam. Several areas across these districts might experience heavy rainfall ranging from 70 mm to 200 mm.

Further, yellow warning had been issued to four districts of Odisha in view of moderate to heavy rains. These districts include Puri, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, and Kandhamal.

Next, the Regional meteorological department has issued alert to a number of districts of Odisha for moderate to heavy rainfall. The sea continues to remain turbulent under the influence of cyclone ‘Michaung.’ Cautionary signal has been issued to all ports of Odisha.

Furthermore, the fishermen have been instructed against venturing into the sea tomorrow. Fire Brigade teams and officials from ODRAF have been put on alert.
