Burglar Arrested In Bhubaneswar, 180 Grams Gold Recovered

Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police today arrested a 32-year-old burglar for allegedly breaking into the house of a woman in the area in April.

The accused have been identified as Rupesh Kumar Pradhan, a native of Bhadrak district. Police have seized 180 grams of gold ornaments, a laptop and other important documents from the accused.

Police said that victim Mamata Patra of Behera Sahi had been to her native in Berhampur on April 19. After she reached her house on April 24, she found the door of her broken. The woman also found the almirah of being ransacked.

Police said that the accused with his associates had decamped with gold ornaments weighing around 350 grams, a laptop and cash of Rs 20000.

“ The accused had melted the gold ornaments and had mortgaged the gold in a gold finance company in Bhadrak. We are also trying to nab the other accused involved in the crime,” said a police official.
