Budget session of Parliament begins today

New Delhi: The Budget session of Parliament began today. The first phase of the session commenced with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to a joint session of both the houses.

The Economic Survey will be tabled today. The Budget will be presented on Thursday.

Addressing to the joint session, Kovind said, “The Union government is committed to double the income of farmers by the year 2022”.

“2.70 Lakh Common Service Centers have been set up across the nation. These Centers provide digital service at low rates for various services even in the far off remote areas,” the President claimed.

Speaking about the cleanliness drive, Kovind said, “It is our duty that when we celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary in 2019 we pay tribute to him by making our country completely clean.”

During the session, the government is expected to give a fresh push for passage of the Triple Talaq legislation and a bill seeking constitutional status for the OBC commission.

The first part of the session will continue till February 9. After a recess of nearly a month, the session will resume on March 5 and go on until April 6.
