BJD fields Bhartruhari Mahtab to fight against BJP’s Prakash Mishra from Cuttack LS seat

Bhubaneswar: The state ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday fielded Bhartruhari Mahtab as the party’s candidate for the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency.

BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Mahtab’s name for the Lok Sabha segment this evening while declaring the names of nine more candidates for the upcoming Assembly election in the State.

Mahtab will now fight the Lok Sabha election against former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra, who is the candidate of the saffron party.

Born on September 8, 1957, Bhartruhari was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 from Cuttack constituency in Odisha. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 from the same constituency.

The sitting Cuttack MP received the outstanding parliamentarian award 2017. He is also the recipient of Sansad Ratna Award 2017 and 2018 for his outstanding performance in ‘Debates’.
