Bike-borne miscreants snatch Rs 2 lakh in Odisha’s Daringbadi

Phulbani: Unknown bike-borne miscreants allegedly snatched Rs 2 lakh from a State government official near the State Bank of India (SBI) in Daringbadi of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Sripati Mallick, Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) of Budaguda and Simanbadi panchayats under Daringbadi block in the district.

Sources said, Mallick withdrew money from the SBI this morning to distribute pension and allowances in the panchyats. He kept the money in a bag and moved near his two-wheeler.

In the meantime, the miscreants came in a pulsur bike and snatched the bag from Mallick, when the latter was opening the dickey of his scooty.

Later, Mallick lodged a complaint with the Daringbadi police in this connection.
