Kendrapara: A 25-year-old businessman was shot dead allegedly by two unidentified miscreants near Hatia village under Marshaghai police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Gagan Sahu of Manikunda village. He was an owner of a medicine store in the locality.
According to report, two bike-borne miscreants opened fire at Sahu when he was travelling on a motorcycle bearing Regd No: OR 29 A 1633.
The young businessman suffered bullet injury near his ear.
Locals, who were working in the nearby paddy field, immediately took Sahu to Marshaghai Govt hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.
A case was registered at Marshaghai police station in the matter and a probe was underway, a police official said.
The motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem, police said.
