6 dead after being run over by train in Jajpur road of Odisha

As many as six people have died and one person is grievously injured as a train run over them in Jajpur Road station. 

Jajpur Road: In a shocking incident, as many as four people have died and at least four have been grievously injured as a train runs over them in Jajpur Road station.

According to preliminary reports, those killed and injured were railway workers who were resting under a coach when suddenly the train started moving and killed all four of them on the spot.

Locals say that the railway workers were taking shelter from the rain under the train boggie when all of a sudden the train started to move.

Four of them died on the spot after being run over whereas four others are critically injured. The local police has rushed to the spot. Detailed reports are awaited in this case.

The incident comes close to heels with the recent Odisha triple train tragedy which claimed as many as 288 lives and has left more than 1000 injured.

Update:

Some contractual labourers engaged by a contractor for Railway Work took shelter under the stabled rake to get protection from the wind and rain of Norwester near Jajpur Keonjar Road.

A monsoon Reserve Rake without Engine reserved at the sick line near Jajpur Keonjhar Road rolled on due to heavy thunderstorms, today.

As a result, four persons are run over and some are injured. Necessary steps are being taken by Railways, in this regard.

Divisional Railway Official lead by DRM Khurda Road rushed to the spot.

Update:

  • As per the latest reports, as many as six people have died while another is critical in the train accident that took place in Jajpur Road of Odisha on Wednesday.
  • It is to be noted that the coaches were without an engine.
