New Delhi: The 265-kilometre Cuttack-Sambalpur National Highway-55 work will complete by March 2024, informed Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Rajya Sabha.

While replying to the question of Odisha BJD MP Mamata Mohanta last week, the Union Minister said that out of 265-kilometre of the entire project, only 42 km to be completed.

It is to be noted here that while the expansion of Cuttack-Angul stretch was approved the cabinet committee on economic affairs had approved in September 2015, the Sambalpur-Angul stretch got green signal in June 2016. The work of the project started in 2017 after Rs 4,482-crore was sanctioned for the work.

September 2020 was the dead line for the entire stretch and August 2019 was the deadline for the Sambalpur-Angul portion. However, the project had missed several deadlines. Following which, Gadkari had assured that the work between Sambalpur and Angul would be completed by June while the rest by the year-end.
