A woman was slashed with a blade and burnt alive by her former classmate who underwent sex change surgery to marry her in Tamil Nadu.
Chennai: A woman was slashed with a blade and burnt alive by her former classmate who underwent sex change surgery to marry her in Tamil Nadu. The incident has occurred in Thalambir near Kelambakkam, in suburb of Chennai.
The deceased has been identified as R Nandini, a 24-yar-old software engineer. According to reports, the accused, identified as Vetrimaran alias Pandi Maheswari, blind-folded Nandini to give surprise for her birthday and later burnt her alive.
Vetrimaran and Nadini were reportedly friends and were living together in Chennai. They used to study together in Madurai. Even after the accused underwent sex-change operation, Nandini chose to live with him.
On the fateful day, the accused reportedly invited Nandini for what was supposed to be a birthday surprise. After some time of Nandini arriving on the location, the locals discovered her to be chained and burning. They immediately rescued her and rushed her to nearby hospital. However, she succumbed to burn injuries in the hospital.
After receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested Vetrimaran. The cops have initiated a probe into the matter and the accused is under judicial custody. However, reason behind killing the victim is yet to be ascertained.
