Hyderabad: Five people have been arrested for allegedly thrashing a pet dog and its owners in Rahmatnagar area of Hyderabad. The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage.
The incident took place on May 08, when the accused Dhanunjay claimed that the his family members were attacked by the pet Husky. The attack took place when they were on their way to cast their postal ballots. Later, a case was registered at the Madhura Nagar police station over the matter, where both the families filed police complaints from both sides.
The dispute escalated when Dhanunjay, consumed by anger attacked pet owner Madhu’s brother Srinath when he was out for walk with iron rods. It further escalated when Srinath’s family his mother Rajeshwari and sister Swapna tried to save him, they also sustained injuries.
The clash was stopped when few neighbours came in support of them. The attackers then went ahead and attacked the dog as well.
As per reports, the victims along with the pet husky were hospitalised for their critical injuries.
A case, was then registered under the Section 147, 148, 307 r/w 34 IPC and section 11 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Later, five accused were arrested.
A video was shared on social media plaform (X) by Journalist Raghava. The post captioned, ” Atrocity in Maduranagar PS area. A pet dog was attacked by three men. Even though a complaint was lodged at the police station, they were ignored in the rush of elections. Srinath and his wife Swapna, who attacked their pet dog and got in the way, also broke their head. The police are investigating the incident.”
