Junagadh: A two-storeyed building collapsed in Gujarat’s Junagad. Many residents of the building are reportedly feared trapped in the debris. It is suspected that the building collapsed due to flood like situation in Junagadh.

On being informed, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team rushed to the spot and initiated rescue and relief operations. While the number of people feared trapped in the building is also yet to be ascertained, the rescue operation still underway.

Junagadh is facing flood-like situation due to heavy rainfall in the state. Severe waterlogging was witnessed in parts of the city due to torrential rain on July 23.

On the other hand, relentless heavy rain in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region for six days led to five more deaths, making the total death toll 98 this monsoon season. Three people from Rajkot district and two from Junagadh city were among the fatalities. Around 5,000 residents were evacuated to safer places, and the floods have disrupted normal life, with hundreds needing rescue. Two people are still missing, making the situation more critical.
