New Delhi: In recent news, Delhi schools will remain closed for students up to class 5 until January 12. This is due to the extreme cold weather conditions. The news was confirmed on Sunday by Education Minister Atishi.

Schools in Delhi were shut on January 1 for winter break. Classes were earlier supposed to resume on January 8. However, with this announcement, schools in Delhi will remain shut for five more days.

Education Minister Atishi took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to announce the decision. He wrote, “Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next five days due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from Nursery to Class 5.”

Earlier on Saturday, the Delhi government issued a notice stating the extension of winter holidays till January 10. However, a few hours later the Education Directorate withdrew the order saying that it was “incorrectly issued.”

Over the past few days, Delhi has been experiencing severe cold weather conditions. Areas were seen covered with a thick blanket of fog. The maximum temperature in the national capital on Saturday was recorded at 15.2 degree Celsius.

As far as the morning hours of Sunday morning are concerned, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.2 degree Celsius.
