Sameer Wankhede’s ex father-in-law reacts to speculations regarding his religious background

NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede’s first wife Dr Shabana Qureshi’s father Zahid Qureshi has spoken to the media regarding the speculations on the officer’s religious background.

Earlier, Wankhede claimed that he has been a Hindu from birth. To this Qureshi replied that he knows the officer’s family as Muslims. In an interview with ABP news, he said that he has known Sameer and his family for about four years now, after agreeing his daughter’s hand in marriage to Wankhede.

According to Qureshi, Sameer’s family came to them as Muslims and then the arranged marriage was fixed. At the time of the wedding, Wankhede was preparing for UPSC and claimed that he goes to the mosque for Namaz. He further added that it is only after the news of his Hindu background circulated in the media, they got to know about it. “We were relieved after our daughter’s divorce,” Zahid said.

He revealed that the documents that the officer has been showing to the media are his pre-marriage certificates. “When my daughter got married, she was a Muslim and everyone knew her,” Qureshi said. Moreover, he doesn’t know from which quota Wankhede got the job after passing the UPSC exam.

Zahid said that he finally spoke up only because his family’s reputation was questioned. The family has forgotten everything after their daughter’s separation from the officer, and they will not take any action against anyone.

Sameer is currently under NCB scanner after the shocking revelations made against him.
