Rahul Gandhi Hits 10 Million Followers On Twitter; To Celebrate ‘Milestone’ In Amethi

Lucknow/Amethi: Rahul Gandhi thanked his followers on Twitter after his follower count on the micro-blogging site reached 10 million. Gandhi said he will celebrate the milestone in Amethi, the parliamentary seat that he lost in the recently concluded general election.

“10 Million Twitter followers – thank you to each and every one of you! I will celebrate the milestone in Amethi, where I will be meeting our Congress workers & supporters today,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

After reaching Amethi to interact with party men at the Nirmala Devi Shaikshin Sansthan in Gauriganj on Wednesday, Gandhi tweeted- “अमेठी आकर बहुत खुश हूँ। अमेठी आना घर आने जैसा लगता है।” (Feeling very happy in Amethi. Coming here seems like coming home).

Noteworthy, this is Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Amethi after losing the seat to BJP’s Smriti Irani by a margin of about 55,000 votes.

He had represented the Amethi Lok Sabha seat since 2004, taking over from his mother Sonia Gandhi.  At present, he represents Kerala’s Wayanad in the Lok Sabha.

Noteworthy, Gandhi stepped down as the Congress president on May 25 following his party’s poor show in the Lok Sabha elections.

In a farewell note, Rahul said he was quitting to share accountability for the poor 52-seat performance of the party in parliamentary elections also hinted that several other leaders will also have to share the blame.
