PM Modi to release tiger census data to mark 50 years of Project Tiger

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a range of tiger conservation initiatives and release the latest tiger census data in Mysuru.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a range of tiger conservation initiatives and release the latest tiger census data at a mega event to mark the completion of 50 years of ‘Project Tiger’ in Mysuru on Sunday. PM Modi will also release the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) at the mega event.

PM Modi’s official Twitter page shared a picture today morning, in which he was seen donning a black hat, Khaki pants, a camouflage t-shirt and black shoes. He was also seen carrying his sleeveless jacket on one arm. The tweet says, PM Narendra Modi is on the way to the Bandipur and Mudumalai Tiger Reserves.

“After the programs in Hyderabad and Chennai, I have come to Mysore. Tomorrow, April 9, I will be attending Project Tiger’s 50th anniversary event,” the prime minister said in a tweet.

PM Modi will also release the government’s vision for tiger conservation during ‘Amrit Kaal’ and also launch the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).

The Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav also informed that the PM will attend the commemorative event to mark 50 years of Project Tiger on April 9 in Mysuru.

In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, security has been tightened in Mysuru. The district administration has banned tourists from visiting the tiger reserve from April 6 to April 9.
