Madurai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Tamil Nadu and Kerala today. In Tamil Nadu, PM Modi addressed a public rally and laid the foundation stone for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai. Besides, he also inaugurated super-speciality blocks at medical colleges in Rajaji, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli.
However, in a major embarrassment for Prime Minister and the ruling BJP, ‘#GoBackModi’ is trending on Twitter. It reflects the state’s anger over PM Modi not visiting the districts in Tamil Nadu that were ravaged by cyclone Gaja that left more than 3 lakh homeless and uprooted around 11 lakh trees.
However, many others welcomed PM Modi to Madurai and thanked him for setting up AIIMS in the city. Hashtags like #MaduraiThanksModi and #TNWelcomesModi too are trending on Twitter.
After his programme in Tamil Nadu, Modi will visit the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited in Kerala’s Kochi. He will also lay the foundation stone for skill development institute at Ettumanoor.
