Surat: In the latest news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s largest workspace, Surat Diamond Bourse today. The space is going to be the world’s largest modern center for international diamond and jewellery business.

This came shortly after the inauguration of a newly built terminal building of the Surat airport. The new terminal is built to handle about 1,200 domestic passengers and 600 international passengers during rush hours. The annual handling capacity can increase up to 55 lakh passengers.

Coming back to the Surat Diamond Bourse, the corporate office hub is stated to transform the city into the diamond trading capital of the world. Reliable reports claim that the project is spread over an area of 35.54 acres. It also incorporates the Central Business District (CBD) and social, commercial, and educational facilities.

The Diamond Bourse in Surat will be a center for trading both rough and polished diamonds along with jewelry. The complex is located in Khajod village near Surat in Gujarat.

After inaugurating the workspace, PM Narendra Modi said that the Surat diamond industry has already given employment to about eight lakh people already. He further claimed that with the new diamond bourse, 1.5 lakh more people will get jobs.

The Surat Diamond Bourse is set to offer a multitude of benefits to both domestic and international diamond traders. With this project, Surat’s diamond trade, currently worth Rs 2 lakh crore, is expected to surge to Rs 4 lakh crore annually.
