Kerala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to flag off India’s first-ever water metro during his visit to Kerala on April 25. According to officials, the metro is intended to improve urban living conditions and boost economic and tourism growth in the region.

The Modi government has made a conscious decision to avoid a one-size-fits-all approach to providing infrastructure and connectivity. The expansion of metro connectivity in the country is a prominent illustration of this method, according to the officials.

The Water Metro is a unique urban mass transit system with the same experience and ease of travel as the conventional metro system. The metro will be useful in cities like Kochi, said the officials.

In the first phase of the project, the service would begin from the High Court-Vypin terminal to the Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals.

The metro is a secure journey in air-conditioned boats and will be cost-effective, the Kerala CM said in a post. It will help people reach their respective destinations without being stuck in traffic, he added.
