One killed, four injured in blast at gelatin factory in Kochi

At least one person died and four others were injured in an explosion at gelatin factory in the Kakkanad area of Kerala’s Kochi.

Kerala: A tragic incident occurred in the Kakkanad area of Kerala’s Kochi, where an explosion at a gelatin factory resulted in the loss of one life and left four others injured, according to the police on Wednesday.

The deceased individual has been identified as Ranjan Orang, originally from Punjab. The injured parties have been named as Najeeb from Edappally, Saneesh from Thoppil, Pankaj, and Kaushiki.

The police have registered an FIR under section 174 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure).

As per the police report, the explosion happened at Nitta Gelatin Company in Kakkanad on Tuesday, around 8 am, specifically in the storage areas containing waste cans.

The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown at this time. The police noted that a detailed investigation is necessary to determine the cause since the company did not use any chemicals that could have triggered the explosion.

Officials have also stated that a thorough scientific investigation will be conducted today to uncover the precise cause of this unfortunate accident.
