MV Act : Truck owner fined Rs 1.41 lakh in Delhi

New Delhi: A truck owner from Rajasthan has paid a penalty of Rs 1.41 lakh after being caught here for overloading and other violations under recently amended Motor Vehicle Act.

Special Enforcement team of the Delhi Transport Department issued the challan of the whopping amount to driver Bhagwan Ram on Monday.

The trucker’s fine has turned out to be the highest so far under the new traffic law brought by the Modi government.

On Monday, a truck driver was fined over Rs. 80,000 for violating several traffic rules in Odisha’s Sambalpur.

Even Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had admitted that he had been fined for speeding on the Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday relaxed the enforcement drive for three months following fracas between public and police in the State capital, Bhubaneswar.
