Mumbai Lawyer Pleas In High Court, Seeks Z+ Security For Adar Poonawalla

Mumbai: A criminal petition has been filed in Bombay High Court seeking Z+ security cover for Adar Poonawalla, Chief Executive Officer of the Serum Institute of India (SII) which manufactures Covishield vaccine.

The petition has been filed by Advocate Datta Mane. He also sought registration of FIR against persons who has allegedly threatened Poonawalla in relation to the supply of Covid vaccines.

Mane’s petition stated that if the vaccine makers feel unsafe in our country, then it might affect the vaccine production at a larger scale.

The plea stated that if Poonawalla is out of India due to fear to his life then it will be like a ship in a storm without its captain.

The plea further stated that Poonawalla and his family along with the assets of SII should be protected as it is the biggest vaccine production institute for Covid-19 vaccine.

It has also been pointed out that earlier Poonawalla had been granted Y category security cover by the Home Ministry.

However the security that was granted seemed to be inadequate as Poonawalla left the country after such security was granted.
