Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away at 92

Mumbai: Legendary singer and Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92. She breathed her last at 8:12 AM at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital, Mumbai. She was hospitalized in early January, after she was tested positive for Covid-19. Since then her health was on a roller coaster as she fell serious one moment and the next moment some improvement was observed in her health.

Earlier today, Lata’s health once again took a turn for the worse. Dr. Pratit Samdani, who was treating her then, informed the media that she was in ICU and was once again put on ventilator support due to her worsened condition. She was hence, kept under observation.

The 92-year-old legendary singer was admitted to the hospital near her home in south Mumbai with Covid-19 and related health issues. She had tested positive on Tuesday (January 11) after reportedly contracting the virus from one of the house helps.

Few days ago, she was given a “trial of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator)” and was showing signs of improvement, the Mangeshkar family said in a statement. However, her health has deteriorated once again on Saturday.

With Lata Mangeshkar’s demise, the music industry suffered a great loss today.
