Latest guidelines on Intensive Care Unit admissions issued: Details
As per the guidelines hospitals cannot admit critically ill patients in the ICU in case of refusal by them and their relatives.
New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry recently released the latest guidelines that guides about admission into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospitals.
The said set of guidelines have been compiled by 24 experts including Dr. Sheila Nainan Myatra, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai; Dr. E Lenin Babu, JIPMER Puducherry; Dr. Anjan Trikha and Dr. Lokesh Kashyap — from Delhi AIIMS.
As per the guidelines hospitals cannot admit critically ill patients in the ICU in case of refusal by them and their relatives.
As per the guidelines the criteria for admitting a patient to ICU should be based on organ failure and need for organ support or in anticipation of deterioration in the medical condition.
