Kerala High Court declines plea to terminate 34 weeks pregnancy
The court held that the medical termination of the said pregnancy was not an option as the foetus had already reached 34 weeks of gestation and was now fully developed.
New Delhi: In an important decision the Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued an order in which the HC declined a plea to terminate a 34 weeks pregnancy.
As per reports, Kerala High Court declined the plea to terminate 34 weeks pregnancy of a 12-year-old girl. As per reports, the pregnancy was due to having alleged Incestual relationship with minor brother.
The court held that the medical termination of the said pregnancy was not an option as the foetus had already reached 34 weeks of gestation and was now fully developed.
“The foetus has already reached 34 weeks of gestation and is now fully developed, preparing for its life outside the womb. Termination of pregnancy at this point is not tenable, if not impossible; and obviously, therefore, the child will have to be allowed to be born,” the high court said.
