The Police Commissioner of Indore, Makrand Deoskar, reached office by riding bicycle in order to advocate the #NoCarDay campaign.

Indore: The Police Commissioner of Indore, Makrand Deoskar, spearheaded the #NoCarDay campaign in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, advocating for a day of reduced car usage to alleviate traffic congestion and raise environmental consciousness.

The initiative urged residents to abstain from using their cars for a day, emphasizing the importance of sustainable transportation alternatives. Commissioner Deoskar set an example by opting to ride a bicycle to his office, encouraging others to explore eco-friendly commuting options.

During his bicycle commute, Deoskar playfully expressed concern about the safety of his bicycle, highlighting the need for secure bicycle parking even within the Police Station premises. This light-hearted moment shed light on bicycle theft concerns, emphasizing the importance of addressing public safety in the city.

The campaign garnered widespread support from various ranks and departments within the police force, with Additional Police Commissioner Rajesh Hingankar also participating in the bicycle commute, underlining the significance of reducing traffic and adopting green transportation means.

Commissioner Deoskar emphasized that the campaign aimed not only for a car-free day but sought to instill an environmentally conscious mindset within the community. He encouraged the populace to consider bicycles as a viable mode of transport, not only on No Car Day but on a regular basis.

In solidarity with the cause, Indore’s Collector, Ilaiah Raja, utilized a city bus for his daily commute, reinforcing the message of sustainable public transportation. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava also participated by using an e-scooter, showcasing the potential of electric vehicles in urban mobility. The campaign received endorsement from the Indore Bench of the High Court.
