India reports dip in Covid cases with 3.06 lakh positives
New Delhi: As many as 3,06,064 new Covid cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Monday. The positivity rate is 8.2% lower than the previous day.
With the addition of 3.06 lakh cases today, the Covid tally in India now stands at 3.95 crore. India is the second worst-hit country after the United States.
The active cases now comprise 5.69 per cent of the total infections. India’s active caseload rises to 22,49,335.
The recovery rate has decreased to 93.07 per cent. The daily positivity rate is now at 20.75% while the weekly figure for the same is 17.03%.
As many as 439 people have died of Covid during the past 24-hour period, according to the date of Health Ministry. At least 60 per cent of the patients who died during the current wave of Covid pandemic were either partially or fully unvaccinated, said reports.
Meanwhile, senior epidemiologist at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi Sanjay Rai said that COVID-19 pandemic is gradually sliding into the ‘endemic’ stage.
On the other hand, Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) recently mentioned that the Omicron variant is in the community transmission stage in the country.
