India reports 12,516 new Covid-19 cases, 501 deaths

New-Delhi:  In the last 24 hours, India registered 12,516 fresh Covid-19 cases and 501 deaths, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

With the new fatalities, the nationwide death toll has increased to 4,62,690, according to the Ministry.

The top five states that have registered maximum Covid-19 cases are Kerala (7,224 cases), Maharashtra (997), West Bengal (854), Tamil Nadu (820) and Mizoram (631).

A total of 13,155 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking India’s recovery rate to 98.26%. The total recoveries now stand at 3,38,14,080 across the country.

In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 1,140. India’s active caseload stands at 1,37,416.

India has administered 53,81,889 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally to 1,10,79,51,225. A total of 11,89,470 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
