New Delhi: The Income Tax Department conducted raids against the media group Dainik Bhaskar in multiple cities on Thursday over alleged tax evasion, official sources said.
Reports said that acting on a tip off about tax evasions by the group, Income Tax Department conducted the raid at the offices of Dainik Bhaskar.
The phones of all the employees present in office have been confiscated. No one is being allowed to move out of the premises.
The raids are underway at Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur, Ahmadabad, and a few locations in Maharashtra as well. The IT investigates are searching the business premises as well as residential premises of the promoters in Madhya Pradesh, added reports.
Dainik Bhaskar group is one of the largest media group in the country, headquartered in Madhya Pradesh. It has more than 60 editions operating in several states in multi languages.

On the other hand, Income Tax department is also conducting a search on Bharat Samachar News channel and its Promoters and Editor-in-Chief, said sources.
The Offices and residences of promoters are being searched.
